FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

HEY, TAMPA BAY: DON’T LET OBESITY WEIGH YOU DOWN!

(PALM HARBOR, FL, April 23, 2012) – If you have a few (or more) pounds to lose but want to do it the healthy way, you are in luck: a fitness program designed especially to burn fat and calories in just 15 days, is scheduled to start next week.

North Pinellas Adventure Boot Camp for Women is launching its “15 Days to a Thinner You” program in Tarpon Springs and Palm Harbor on April 30. The three-week course (five days per week) may be just what the doctor ordered for our area residents: according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), more than 63 percent of Pinellas County adults are overweight or obese, a higher rate than the state average. Since obesity is directly linked to type 2 diabetes, this disease is more prevalent in the Tampa Bay area than in the rest of the country, the CDC says.

And that’s not all: nearly two of every three adults in the Bay area are overweight or obese, according to the 2011 report released by One Bay, the Tampa Bay Partnership Regional Research & Education Foundation.

“Considering that obesity can lead to not only diabetes, but also to heart disease and cancer – first and second leading causes of death among Floridians- it’s crucial to start losing weight before any damage is done to your health,” says Kevin Carrier, owner and trainer of North Pinellas Adventure Boot Camp for Women.

And if the premise of losing weight and inches off your body in only 15 days sounds too “gimmicky,” rest assured that it isn’t.

“We have been in business for almost 5 years and have had enormous success helping women of all ages and fitness levels not only lose weight and burn fat, but also firm their butt and thighs, flatten their stomach, improve strength and endurance, reduce stress level, as well as give them more energy and confidence,” Carrier notes. “Not only that, but our campers also learn how to maintain their weight loss through exercise and healthy eating long after the camp is finished.”

The reason this particular program succeeds where many others fail is its mix of exercises devised especially to whip the body into shape while keeping boredom at bay, along with habit-based coaching which teaches the women how to incorporate health and fitness into their life one step at a time.

“There is no repetitive pattern, no chance for your body to get accustomed to the routine and stop responding to it,” Carrier explains. “Every day at camp is different – we change exercises every few minutes to create a ‘metabolic disturbance,’ which is actually a good thing because it speeds up the metabolism and fat loss for up to 36 hours after the session is finished.”

All the camp activities focus on proven calorie and fat busters, such as strength and interval training, tabatas, balance training, core work and cardio, including walking, light jogging, sprinting or running, depending on what the participants are comfortable with.

“We also offer many metabolic exercises using 5 to 15 pound dumbbells, bodyweight, bands, medicine balls, jump ropes and more,” Carrier says. “We do fun games, obstacle courses, circuits and relays to keep campers moving, engaged, and using different muscle groups. This mix allows participants to achieve their fat loss and conditioning goals much faster.”

Does North Pinellas Adventure Boot Camp for Women live up to its promise of weight loss, fat reduction, and better overall shape? Numerous local women – many of whom have become regular clients – swear by the camp’s effectiveness.

“I didn’t realize how much my fitness level would improve in just one camp, but it went through the roof,” says Stephanie Salerno of Tarpon Springs, who has continued the program beyond the initial camp for over four years.

And Tracy Scheffler of Dunedin, who joined the camp when she turned 50, lost 34 pounds in 6 months. “Now, I buy size 4 clothes,” she reports.

The upcoming camp will be held from April 30 through May 18 at 5:30 AM or 7:00 PM, Monday through Friday at Brooker Creek Elementary School, 3130 Forelock Road, Tarpon Springs, and at 9 AM Monday through Friday at John Chesnut Park, 2200 East Lake Rd., Palm Harbor.
